Someone please explain this for me:

With my Celestron AVX mount in the Home position, and pointing roughly, within a degree or two, from true North I performed a Quick Align and did a GoTo to Jupiter, close enough for the Ekos Align to work and let me see the planet. I then performed a Goto to Polaris, expecting that the mount would revert to its Home position. It didn't. It did some sort of "dipsy doodle", with the OTA low on the left side of center pointing upward to what might have been the right direction for Polaris, but I couldn't tell because of weather. Why dies this happen, and what, if anything should be done about it?

Positions very close to the Pole need to be avoided.
To go back to Polaris just Home the mount.
Also, do not platesove/goto near the Pole - the error will be very large.

Thanks. I will home the mount. My purpose in doing this was to use the polar alignment tool which has been failing.

"Just home the mount". Is there an Ekos command to do that or do you mean manually? I didn't find such a command on the mount control or in the mount tab.

OK, time for me to RTFM. So I set my park location to my home setting, and now I can go to it simply by parking the telescope. Duh.
