Creating a specific thread on this, to not hijack others...

To install the last kstars so PHD2 works, should I be building from source instead of installing from PPAs?

I just rebuilt the RPI3 from scratch, installing ubuntu-mate, kstars per tutorial with dbg, phd2, and indiwebserver:
indilib.org/support/tutorials/169-ekos-o...-complete-guide.html

indiwebserver is running as User root. (*)Cannot use PI per below

To test, using x11VNC and logging into RPI3 with this command:
sudo x11vnc -xkb -noxrecord -forever -noxfixes -noxdamage -display :0 -auth /var/run/lightdm/root/:0 -nopw

The attached screen shot shows the configuration being attempted with indiwebserver. The error is in the Kstars log of the screen shot.

Note, Skysafari works (yay!)

The other errors that remain, with workarounds:
- (*) ASI224MC-cooled, does not connect. Switching the indiwebserver to User root, resolves this.
- this line needs to be removed: ExecStartPost=/usr/bin/python /home/pi/servermanager/autostart.py

Please let me know if you have any ideas. This is a clean KStars/ubuntu-mate/RPI3 install to eliminate any potential variables (two weeks of clouds allows for this.)

Thank you

What's VID:PID of your ASI224MC-cooled camera? I see it mentioned in the rules file. For PHD2, you can use PPA.

How do I check the VID:PID for the camera? Sorry I have to ask :(

Also, update on PHD2. I do not really know what I did but the PHD2 setting worked after:
- reboot, and tried PHD2 setting again, it failed, so...
- unsetting it in the profile
- Starting indiserver and Connecting Ekos
- setting PHD2 in the guider
- clicking connect and then guide
- PHD2 started up okay
- then Disconnect and stopping INDI server
- edit profile again, setting PHD2, save
- Started INDI server and PHD2 connected...

No idea why. PHD2 was setup correctly in the first place, connecting to camera and such.

Just do an lsusb on the command line.
It will give all USB connected devices and their IDs.
As you have an ASI, you should have at least one ID starting with 03c3 (ZWO ID)

I will test again of the PHD2 and its logs in case I can reproduce again. In the end though, it is great to have it working as it would not on the previews SDCard.

So I tested with PHD2 today and it all works OK.

1. Start PHD2, do not connect anything, just make sure your profile is ready.
2. Start KStars
3. Start Profile (Using Web Manager + CCD Simulator + PHD2)
4. All is connected.
5. Guide tab --> PHD2 is already connected. I click "Guide" and it starts calibrating
6. Autoguiding starts automatically

That's pretty much all I did.

Yes, thank you, I can confirm the below steps worked repeatedly so that PHD2 connects. It even worked switching the CCD sim to the ZWO CCD.

As soon as I add the Mount - Telescope Simulator or Celestron Nexstar - the connection fails to the INDI Webserver.

Thoughts?

I was able to get the mount to connect once. Not sure why yet.

The PDH2 profile I am using only has the

Attached are the screen shots for the PHD2 profile and the Ekos Profile to show the setup and where the mount is set.

1. In the Ekos profile if the Telescope Simulator is removed, and PHD2 guider is set, Ekos starts up.

2. In the Ekos profile if the Telescope simulator is added, and PHD2 guider is set, the Fail message results and Ekos does not start.

3. In Ekos profile add Mount and remove PHD2, Ekos starts up. Then the Guider tab can be used to manually configure Ekos to use PHD2.

The difference between 1 and 3 is just extra steps to get everything connected.

Does setting the mount work for you, or is it something I have done wrong?
