I see Ekos has the option to take the image in native format or FITS. When I select native format and use my Canon 5D2 with Gphoto INDI driver, I get the nice colorful raw images I expect. However, if I chose the FITS option, I get monochrome .fits files. Is there a reason for this? Does this mean I actually only get the R, G or B in the form of a FITS file?
In other words, is this monochrone FITS containing ALL the information recorded by the CMOS captor, or only one of the colours?
The FITS from DSLRs is not monochrome. It contains bayered data. If you set "Resource Limited Mode" in your options in KStars, then KStars will not auto-debayer the image and they will appear as monochrome. Maybe sure auto-debayer is checked in the options.
I just checked and I already had Auto-Debayer ticked and Resource Limited Mode unticked. I also have the 3D Cube option checked.
Also, my FITS file is heavier (42M) than my raw file (24), not that I know if that means anything.
ds9 opens the image as a simple monochrome unique frame, Gimp shows only a grey channel. I'm not sure how else to test the file. hastebin.com/kujupoyedi.pasHere is the FITS header
.
I am having a similar problem. I can only view the downloaded mono FITS images that I have captured with my Canon T6i, while my SD card stores RAW images in color just fine. In the GPhoto CCD tab, I have Bayer info set to RGGB. The 'debayer' function in the file menu of KStars FITS Viewer is greyed out when I display these files.
I am unable to find the "Resource Limited Mode" option in KStars--where exactly is this option set/unset? I've looked 'all' over and it escapes me. Thanks
