Hi,

I found out an issue on Plate solving. Everytime after the first successful plate solved, the 2nd attempt plate solve will take very long period eventhough the object already in the center of FOV. Sometimes it will failed.

Can we have an option on setting how many times of plate solve attempt?

Anybody experienced this before?

Regards,
Tom

I had an issue in my last session. I think its set for 5 or 6 retries but it could not position the scope within the target area. It kept missing the target. I thought it might have been a backlash issue. However, when I used my guide scope and cam instead of the main, it worked beautifully. Only one or two tries to centre the object. The only thing I can think of that maybe the FOV of the main scope is too narrow for the loaded database. Maybe this is your problem too.

Actually I am using my Guide scope as well. It centered 1st, but plate solve forever in 2nd. I have no such issue before upgraded. Hmmmm.....

Did you check whether your main telescope and camera are both selected correctly in the align module? If you have it set to guide scope and the main camera or the other way round the solver will try to solve using the wrong FOV. I had done that a couple of times, now I know where to look first if the solver takes unusually long.

That or clear the mount model.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I was careful to check that. I went back and forth a couple of times rechecking. I don't know why those two selections aren't linked. They should be linked.

Running Ekos right now, plate solving faster than ever, 1st and 2nd solve. With guide cam (ASI120MM) and guide scope as well as main scope (RC 8", 1600 mm) and ASI1600MC. Indi and Kstars were just updated yesterday. Did you enter focal length and aperture of your telescopes correctly?

Wanted to get me in here too. Plate solving, whether on or offline takes about 1,5 minutes here. I find that very long. How
Long would be „normal“? Cheers

On my fast gaming desktop with offline solver, 5 to 15sec on first... RPi3 takes anywhere from 30 to 60sec to solve. Laptop is in the 20 to 40sec range.

Im not sure if that's normal

Offline plate solving for me just takes a few of seconds - MacBook Air

I should point out that thats when its doing PA with the guide cam so it may be faster in this case

Sounds about right to me. Currently between 10-15 s with a Zotac 332pico mini-PC running Ubuntu Mate 16.04. About 60-90s on a Pi3 also running Mate 16.04.
