Sorry for only posting problems in the last time, but I hope, I can help somehow anyway.
Here is what I did: I experimented with the remote features of Ekos/kstars for the first time. Running stars on my MacBook and having only an AIS camera attached, I launched stars on another Mac and setup the remote profile successfully, I could see the live video of the ASI on the remote Mac. Then stars crashed on the remote machine and won't come up again. It crahses immediately after startup. I attached the crash report from OS X. I will now reboot the Mac and hope it will then work again.

Quick update: restart did not help, kstars does not start up on the remote machine anymore.

Some Kstars crash issues on Mac OS can be fixed by deleting the data folder: ~/Library/Application Support/kstars and the preferences file: ~/Library/Preferences/kstarsrc
Thank you, Giorgio, that helped, although having to setup from scratch afterwards is not really a long term feasible option.

I had a similar issue last night. I'm running 2.9.6. I have Kstars/INDI running on Ubuntu 18.04 and connected to it using Kstars on my Windows 10 pc. When I logged back into Ubuntu KStars had crashed. I restarted KStars and it said there was "already an instance of INDI running, would I like to stop (or restart it)". Everything seems fine now. Just wanted to share in case it help you narrow down the issue.
The OSX report shows that KStars crashes when it tries to display an error message. There isn't any more info than that unfortunately. I will ask Robert to include debug symbols for KStars in the next release.
