Sorry, the feature is in Settings, Artificial Horizon. You draw polygons, starting at 0 degrees altitude and finishing at 0 degrees, then closing the shape. The interface is a bit rough, but on my side I could map my garden trees to give users an idea of the obstacles.

Thank you Eric, I found it, but excuse my dumbness: how do I enter Altitude information. I have a series of data from Observer Pro with e.g. 31° (tall tree), I tried to enter 31, but it does not accept it.

There's an excellent program on the iPhone called Observer Pro. It allows you to hold your phone where your tripod would sit, and use the camera to pan around and draw the polygons that shape your horizon view. I did a quick write up of it on my site . Anyway, it has a way to export that data to a file from within the iPhone app. (I've exported it and loaded it into Sky Safari Pro). I'm wondering if this could be used somehow to import into KStars/EKOS?

I am using the same program and had a look at the export file. It is basically a list of lines with 2 values, one for the azimuth and the other for the altitude. I wanted to enter the values manually. For 0° it say 31.8 in the file, so I tried to enter 31 anyhow but failed.

Noticed that this was still open and wanted to add the following.

I used Observer Pro on my iPad to map the horizon in my backyard and then was able to email that data to myself from the app.

The data file from Observer Pro was comma delimited but INDI/Ekos was expecting tab delimited so a quick search/replace/copy/save was able to create an horizon file that could be opened on the Horizon tab in the INDI mount control panel.

I also want to try to import my Observer Pro horizon.
However, I can't find any "load" or "import" setting in kstars -> Artifical horizon...

I am missing something here?

There's no good import option available. I started another thread under the wish list section outlining how Observer Pro writes its data, and how that might be used to create an import feature. But as it stands right now, Observer Pro makes a coordinate for every single degree in a 360 circle, so 360 altitude and azimuth coordinates. This obviously would take forever to put in one coordinate at a time in the current system. And an import feature is still required. However, to get something into the system to help with our horizon, you could take that file and delete out every other coordinate, or every two coordinates to reduce down the total number to something manageable to manually input.

You guys may want to check the app CamSextant. It's free and works great tracking multiple items in the horizon. It also has some nice calibration feature, as it picks up a few stars and fine-tunes its precision. I'm still learning how to use it, but to capture the line of the horizon seems pretty easy.
Cheers!

I bought the Observer Pro app after seeing it recommended here, so I could map my horizon but when I access the Local Horizon mapping menu, the "Measure" feature is greyed out, I can't access it.

My phone being an iPhone 5S (iOS12.4.6), I thought that it may be to old even though Sky Safari Pro works fine on it, I tried my iPad Air 2 (iOS 13.4.1) but same thing, "Measure" is greyed out. Is there anything that I am missing or was the app developed for the latest iPhones and iPads?

I have other apps that make use of the magnetometer (compass), GPS, and Augmented Reality via the camera and all work without any issues. I have sent an email to the developer last week asking if there was something special required to be done, but no reply.

Any clues? Thanks.

It worked for me on an iPad Air 2 as well and it worked fine, something to do with your config?

Is there a way to import these settings into INDI yet?
