I just upgraded Ubuntu to 18.04, I noticed that the language support does not work well in Kstars. Unlike version 16.04, switch application language only offers one language (us english). However, language-pack-kde-fr is installed, but French does not appear in the list. On the other hand, some translations appear here and there in the application,but relatively much less than before.

Version Ubuntu 18.04.1 64 bits. Kstars 2.9.8, Build: 2018-08-18T06:12:27Z

Subsidiary question: how can we contribute to the linguistic support of Kstars/Ekos?

It is exactly the same with German here. I remember not too long ago I had German translation activated in KStars but deactivated it a while ago. Now I can't re-activate it.

I'm working on fixing this. Since KStars is now released separately from KDE Applications, it has to include its own translations files... still in progress.

Language support is now back in KStars nightly.

Perfect. Works. Since it's no longer part of the KDE distribution, who's taking care of the internationalization of KStars now? Where do we send corrections to?

It's still handled in KDE, just now it is packaged along with KStars. So if you join the KDE i18n team, you can send all updates there.

Why isn't the control panel translated when started from third party software (in may case skychart)?

I tested the French, it's a disaster in Ekos, big problem of graphics.
I handed over English.

@Sylvain,

I fully agree on this and most probably not only in French.
Even native English is sometimes not displayed fully.
I try to play around this to see if it could be fixed somehow.
