Focuser backlash question(s)

Hi,

I have a Pegasus DMFC connected to the fine control of my Astro-physics refractor (2" with 10:1 microfocus).
One thing I'm fighting with to get autofocus to work is backlash.
The INDI driver allows me to set a backlash value. But from looking what happens, the driver will just tune that additional amount, and then reset the stepper counter to the value without the backlash. If the amount of backlash changes for whatever reason (more friction when it's cold, varying gravity force) any offsets specified that way will be wrong. Needless to say that with a wrong value for the BF, the autofocus goes haywire :(

Isn't there an option to just always approach values from the same side, with a user definable overshoot. I.e., when focussing out from 50000 to 50100, first go to 50100+X and then back up to 50100? As it is now, I'm trusting neither the autofocus nor the automatic filter offset correction :((

Am I the only one with such issues?
