So far I have not managed to use the internal guidance of Ekos. I just tested it once again in simulation mode. Calibration never reaches the end of the process with an error message either on a move in DEC or RA.
I exclusively use the internal guider. It works great with EqMod on my Atlas Pro mount. Have not been using anything else for the last year. The only time I had an issue with the internal guider was when the driver for the ZWO ASI120MM I use for guiding had a bug. Once that was fixed the guide module worked perfectly again.

I suspect your settings are sub-optimal. Can you do a short screen recording when you start and run guiding with simulators? At least for me this would be much easier than studying logfiles.
Like El Corazon I use the internal guider only as well. The only two things I needed to take care of are
- take 2 sec exposures
- use 2x2 binning
Once I do that I get RMS of 1.1" with a 50 mm F=160 mm guide telescope and ASI120MC-S camera and ~0.7" with a 60 mm F=280 mm telescope and again an ASI120MM-S cam. This is both with SkyWatcher HEQ5-Pro (belt mod) and SkyWatcher EQ6-R mounts.
Logs show that the star guided onto doesn't move at all indeed. Are you sure you are guiding on the right simulator device? You're supposed to use the guider.
