What's wrong with my guiding?

You chose to use an ST4 cable (via guide camera) or pulse mode (via mount) in the guide panel.
At least with the AstroPhysicsExperimental driver there is "use pulse guding" setting that needs
to match the guide panels choice. Also in the driver panel is the setting for guiding rate, normal
recommendation if the mounts own guide rate is not known is 0.5.

Try the link again it was in a private group - I made the group public.

Last night - I could not duplicate the excellent guiding I had the night before. I started with ST4 and calibrated fine. But guides (fair to poor). About 1.3 or so.
I then switched to pulse guiding as I did the night before. But each time I did it would recalibrate. It would move the star small amounts properly... and
after about 8 or so little pulses it would start hopping across the sky again by huge amounts. So it can never "recalibrate".

I tried it at least 10 times. Same result. I went back and watched teh video of the previous night and when I switched from ST4 to pulse, it did no recalibrate.
It just started guiding (with same calibration?) and that's when it worked VERY WELL.

I'm going to spend some time tonight trying to change the values and see how it goes.
From the video, it does look like I can change the value as it's guiding, which is good.

thanks again for taking the video, much appreciated.

I had the same problem with my QHY5 when binning passed from 2x2 to 1x1. Don't ask me why but it happened.
I had to reduce the exposure to 0.5s as 2s was to much for guiding to recover. I know it's not the ideal, but just try to reduce the exposure to see if guiding sets faster.

The problem is getting good stars with only 0.5s.
That's why 2x2 binning would be very useful. I see you made a post with it.

Yes! I know but at some point it was working with ekos... that was the point I switched it to another camera.... the ASI120MM
The binning stopped working when the SDK was changed in indilib version 1.5 . After that it never worked again, at least for me.

0.5s isn't working for me, I have to do 1.5s minimum to get a picture.

That was what I was afraid of. Impossible to get stars....
So you can only mess with minimum pulse of EQMOD, mine was set as 50ms for RA and DEC but this is set on INDI control panel! Not in the guide parameters!

or.....
guide at 1.0x? Have you tried it? I remember doing it, not perfect but worked for a while.
Do you have backlash?
Can you calibrate at first time?

well well well, your tip about reducing the exposure is doing the trick, the plot is no longer all over the universe...
I'm using original values so now I can start tweaking them...

I always thought you needed more exposure time on the guider. weird stuff going on there...
