Yes, I got my stuff from the Pine64 store . I paid for express shipping for my first order and then standard for the second. Standard shipping was faster. I ordered on june 3rd, it shipped on June 14 and arrived today June 19.

For the VNC server I used precisely the same instructions that Wouter quoted above, including the difficulty with autoboot.

If you select 4Gb/64Gb option, the price will be about the same.
There is a lot of similar devices available @ amazon with essentially the same hardware.
Minisforums's one is quite popular and seems to have at least some kind of support.
They built a custom BIOS for Wouter.

Let's refine that statement a bit. MinisForum produced an improved BIOS based on my input. Needless to say I am very grateful for that :)

Well yeah... It was a good practice/exercise...
I am staying with RPI/Stellarmate for now.

MinisForum Mini PC (surprisingly) feels slower than RPI overall.
USB3 of course is faster (10 times faster) but it doesn't make a lot of a difference.
(might get rid of the amp glow for some though)
Plate solving is also faster but not much.

Stellarmate is rock solid, well maintained and just works without much fiddling.

Thanks for helping!

Yes, it is smaller... Which is good.
With my recent install I was disappointed with that Atom platform though.
I was expecting a big leap in performance but didn't get that.
Except for USB3 (which is a big plus of course) - no real difference.
Will try Rock and/or Odroid and see how they compare to RPI.

That's an interesting conclusion. I'll admit that I never tried StellarMate. I have always run KStars and Ekos on a Raspberry Pi that runs Ubuntu 16.04. And the difference in performance w.r.t. the MinisForum Z83-F is ginormous! Much faster download of images both from my ASI1600MM and from my DSLR cameras, muuuuch faster plate solving especially when doing a polar alignment. I am talking about 2 minutes per image on the RPi and about 20 seconds on the Z83-F. That is including WCS coordinate computations. Plate solving only is about 30 sec versus about 5 sec.

Well, good that you have a workable solution for yourself :-)

You know, you are right...
When I just started I was using DSLR - RPI was painfully slow with it.
Large images and no guider/finder.
Then I got ASI1600 - RPI was slow with it too.
That was actually the reason I replaced the 1600 with ASI294.
And I do aligning/plate solving with ASI120.
RPI handles this combination pretty well.

You now have the option of usb 3 on RPi 4.
I am currently running on Rock64. It took quite a while for all the drivers to become stable, but my Rock64 seems to do a good job now with my two QHY cameras (163M and 5L-II-M).

Yes I have one of the new rpi4b and it’s superb with USB 3 and many other enhancements..BUT it does not yet work with any form of Ubuntu, only Rasbian....so you might want to wait... :)
