Re:Installation KStars/Ekos Windows8 problem #50339
Hi,
I got KStars/Ekos running on my stationary Windows10 computer, works perfectly fine.

Now I also want to install KStars/Ekos on my Laptop Windows8.

First I got a warning that I missing the driver api-ms-win-crt-math-l1-1-0.

I updated the Windows8 but still it missing this DLL file, how it come ?

I downloaded both 32 and 64 bit drivers and store them in respective system folder.

After that I get a new warning, it could not start the programme correct and the error code '0xc000007b', something about over loading the computer when starting dll files.

I'm sure it has something to do with that I installed the math driver files manually, but how to instead when windows update don't do it ?

Thanks !

That solved the problem, strange that this wasn't already updated because Window is in automatic update mode.

This is perfect, now I have an alternative to the stationary computer to control the Raspberry.

Hi,
Now I have the laptop running and everything looks ok, thanks for all help I got !

Next step for me is to have KStars installed on a Android tablet or smartphone. I first tried to install KStars Lite on my smartphone, it didn't even startup. I bought a new smartphone and got it yesterday, I thought it was too limited memory in the old one, 16GB, the new smartphone has 128GB and that must be enough. Still problem, but it's a little bit better now, the KStars screen comes up and it start downloading stuff. When downloading NYC/IC it stop at 90% and then shut down KStars, no error message.

Maybe KStars Lite is not for smartphones, is it only for tablets ?

Ok, from what I've heard kstars lite has had little development love for quite a while (so if you love its idea and have developer skills please give it some love).
For the starting problem, go to Settings then Apps, then love it with all the permissions that you are happy with, then hopefully kstars lite will start on your device.

Hi,
Great thanks, after I setup the app it starts and I can now investigate how to use it. Sorry, I'm not a developer of such things, but it have been interesting to have that knowledge.
