Hi everyone

if i check 'dark frame' in the internal guider, it takes the frame and stores it correctly but then repeatedly asks to take another dark frame...

To be able to guide, we must click Cancel in the popup.
Any ideas?
TIA,
Steve

Did you uncheck that option after you took the dark frame? If not, do so and you won’t be asked for it anymore. If you did then you probably hit a bug.

Hi and thanks for the reply.
If I take the frame and then unckek the dark frame, is the frame still being subtracted?
TIA,
Steve

I've just tried using the guide simulator and it seems fine. The first frame prompted me to cover and uncover the scope and took and saved a dark, then subsequent frames subtracted that dark. the Dark checkbox is checked throughout.
I did the first frame using Capture though and maybe that makes a difference.

Hi
Yeah, I think it's to do with recent changes to the git.

Yes. You can see all dark frames in the KStars preferences under Ekos -> Dark Library.

Mmm. Not sure.
The guide images looks the same during guiding as the one I obtain by hitting 'Capture' in the guide module. Nothing appears about dark frame subtraction in the log...
Cheers

Do you see any hot pixels in your guide frames? If yes, do they disappear after you have taken a dark image with the guide cam?

I discovered that I was using out of date sources so if this is a recent change i wouldn't have seen it.

Hi
OK. The simulator works. But it doesn't seem to be working with actual hardware.

After taking the dark frame without the scheduler running, it does not repeatedly ask for more dark frames. Correct.

So this seems to be happening when guiding is started by the scheduler.

Question: where in the log can I see evidence of a dark frame being applied to a guiding camera frame after the scheduler has begin guiding?
TIA and clear skies,
Steve
