How do I get the focus position in the FITS header

Hi,

I see the focus position in the FITS header in the FITS Viewer, but it is zero. I have a Moonlite clone and it shows the position as 5500. Is there a way to get that position into the header?

Thanks!

First, you have to enter the focuser in the camera configuration as 'Snoop Device'. Then, it seems, the focuser driver has to support this, too. At least I had a Pegasus DMFC, and despite having it defined as Snoop device, the entry in the FITS header always was zero (I assume you talk about the FOCUSPOS keyword in the FITS header).

Since I switched to the ZWO EAF, the focus position is recorded there....

I've just tried with the CCD Simulator and a real MoonLite focuser and it is OK as long as you set the focuser snoop device in the CCD Options to MoonLite.

It's easy to end up with the snoop device set to focuser simulator, saving the options may help.

Thank you both! I'll give that a try.
