Thanks Hy - I'll have to wait till it makes it in to StellarMate but looks like it will allow me to align the visual terrain with the horizon lines which is great! :)

This is while using the terrain feature in the equirectangular projection. There is obviously something not looking right.

Thanks for reporting this. I found the issue and sent Jasem a patch for review.

Hello Hy,

Now that Google decided to shut down the ability to capture 360 photos with the street view app, is there a way to load as a terrain at least a panorama photo?

The photo loads up, but due to projections, it is not right, or maybe the Gnomonic is quite close.

Any ideas?

PS. No dedicated 360 camera available :-(

I hadn't heard that. Well, I just looked and the "photo sphere" option is still available on my android phone's "google camera" app (I have a Pixel 6).

I am an iOS user but I can see that is the same for both platforms. Are you are able to actually capture a picture?

I'm in the same boat, in that on my iPhone I haven't found a reasonable replacement yet for Street View.

Me too..I've tried every app that I could find, but nothing worked correctly.

If we can just load our png file without distortion, at least we could have our sky clear to project the DSS overlay.

@Euripides, yes I can capture photospheres with my android camera app.

Doesn't sound like they were planning on stopping that from the link you send.
It's just the regular app that takes photos with google phones.
It has a "Modes" choice (when selecting among: NightSight, Motion, Portrait, Camera, Video, Modes) and inside of Modes is Panorama, Photo Sphere, Lens.
It is what I have always used for Terrain photos.

Too bad they are taking away their Streetview app.
One would hope there are other apps on ios that capture these spheres.
I guess you can always borrow someone's android phone!

I have the Panorama 360. The free version allows for a portrait 360 row which in my case doesn't clear all of my trees. It appears that there is a pro version which might include a full spherical 360 but at $78 per year, I'm not going to spring for that.

UPDATED: I have a Benro Polaris that is able to take "720" panos which automated the taking of 38 images with a Nikon D600 at 24 mm. MS ICE put them together and Photoshop removed the sky. Not as straightforward as Street View was, but it worked.

My solution: Use the GCam.apk that has this feature integrated, just like Google Street View had.

PS. I've read that Google Pixel phones have this feature preinstalled.
