Missing Ekos Tab in KStars 3.5.3 Linux Upgrade

I also have the same result of not being able to access Ekos after updating to the latest KStars.

I can't seem to find a way to roll back. It looks like the PPA package listing only contains the most recent version. The same is true for Snap.

I might be missing something with the PPA package listing though.

Anyone else have any luck on a rollback? I suppose I could build from source.

I have the same result. Upgrade on Ubuntu makes Ekos disappear entirely from KStars.

Can't figure out a way to roll back -- both snap and the ppa seem to have only one version, unless I am missing something. I really wish there was an obvious way to roll back. If I can help with that, let me know.

Also, apologies if this is a double post. My prior reply didn't seem to get posted. Or maybe it's in some kind of new-account limbo.

To my knowledge there is only one version, so upgrading is a one way street. Crazy decision, if you ask me....

Hi,

I had a similar problem and managed to shrink the image size by shrinking the unused portion of the drive so that it fit onto the receiving drive. I think that my problem was the other way around with a 125GB image from SD going onto a 120GB SSD. I think that I used GPARTED to shrink the unused section of the SD and reimaged just the reduced partitions and everything fitted OK.
There are a number of tutorials on You Tube how to do this. If I can find the one I used I will post it up for you.
I feel sure that I found a library of older KStars versions when I needed to roll back several months ago. I will hunt around tonite as its cloudy so nothing else to do :)

I seem to remember using this site to access older versions of KStars in the past. pkgs.org/search/?q=KStars
Currently version 3.4.2 is available (search in your current linux flavour). Having said that I am sure that the problem will be fixed soon.

Sorry, I apologize for this. There was a build error for 18.04 that was fixed. Will rebuild KStars 3.5.2 shortly.

Greetings Jasem. Thank you very much for your work!! I made the mini update on Ubuntu 20.04 but didnt see any improvement. Should I remove and install again Kstars?

Thank you for the fix and all of the work you do!

Unfortunately, kstars seems to have disappeared from the Ubuntu PPA. Am I missing something?

scott@basilisk:~$ grep kstars /var/lib/apt/lists/ppa.launchpad.net_mutlaqja_*
/var/lib/apt/lists/ppa.launchpad.net_mutlaqja_ppa_ubuntu_dists_groovy_main_binary-amd64_Packages:Recommends: kstars-bleeding, indi-bin
scott@basilisk:~$ lsb_release -a

Using the nightly builds PPA seemed to work, and my Ekos Tools menu item is back. Hooray.

@Georgios Lekkas:

Try clearing your local apt cache
sudo apt-get clean

And then be sure to use the nightly PPA

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mutlaqja/indinightly
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install indi-full kstars-bleeding

@Jaseem --

Thank you for your attention to this. And all of the work you do in general! It's critical for me. :)
Would it be possible to keep a prior version of the build in the PPA for thees kinds of situations? Could be less stressful all around!

Greetings Scott.
Thank you very much for the suggestion. Yes with the nightly build everything is back but unfortunately both my cameras are not recognized by ekos. I bet its a problem with the unstable nightly build.

About Ubuntu PPA,yes I also noticed a problem there. I tried to completely remove kstars-bleeding,indi-full and more and reinstall them again to make a fresh install. But every time I tried to install kstars-bleeding I always got a "package kstars-bleeding has no installation candidate" so I guess there is a problem with the upgrade. Fingers crossed for an update on this. And again, a big thank you to Jasem and the development team for their hard work on this project.

Best regards,
George.

Hi Georgios!

Glad we're on the same page. I just learned that all of my ZWO gear ALSO no longer works with the latest indilib. :)

I get an indi_asi_ccd crashed error in Ekos.

Jaseem -- shall I send you debug data?
