INDI Library v2.0.7 is Released (01 Apr 2024)

Bi-monthly release with minor bug fixes and improvements

status for ZWO cameras on armv7 processors? (was: status for ZWO ASI183?)

I have been reading through the thread for ZWO difficulties last month (April). I built the indi-3rdparty libraries on May 1, but I am left a little confused what the status is for the various ASI cameras.

I have that ASI290 works but ASI183 fails with not much information in the logs.

What is the latest work around, if any, for the ASI183?

I'm working with Kstars on Debian 10 on a Beaglebone Black.

Thank you.

I'm currently using an ASI183MC Pro with no issues. In fact, running a sequence as I type this. What kind of error are you getting?

The only thing I'm seeing is "ASIGetExpStatus" fails. Thanks.

I also use an ASI 183 MC Pro without any trouble in Ekos. KStars 3.5.3 Stable.

Bad connection? Try replacing USB cable?

Hmmm. Makes sense. Only if I replace the ASI183 with an ASI290, then an image is captured. But maybe the ASI183 has more stringent requirements...

At any rate, it's good to know that others are running the ASI183 under Ekos.

Thank you.

ASI183 is transferring WAY more data per frame than 290. Another thing to try is to reduce the USB bandwidth in INDI settings. Depending on the computer, cable, and USB port you might not be able to push these big images at 100%.

From reading posts on the CN forum, these cameras are sensitive to USB cable, the shorter the better.

Does anyone have ZWO ASI cameras running on armv7 processors?

I couldn't get the ASI183MM camera to work at all -- even with changing out USB cables. (I have another cable on order so I haven't completely given up there.)

But last night I encountered a rather bizarre error with the ASI290MM camera. The camera seems to work fine for integration times of 1 second and greater. BUT the camera fails for integration times less than one second. I mean not even 0.9 seconds.

So I'm left wondering about the driver and whether anyone has had success with this particular binary. (I'm working with the 3rd party files from May 1)

Thank you.

Thanks.

A new USB 3 cable arrived today. But no improvement, unfortunately...

I've been running an ASI120MM-S for guiding and an ASI533MC for imaging from a Raspberry PI4 since 2 months ago. Before that, I was using the ASI120MM-S for guiding and a Canon EOS 40D or QHY5III462C for imaging on the same RPI without problems.

This is helpful. I'm running Ekos on a Beaglebone Black -- not quite as much computing power as the RPi4.

I've asked tech support at ZWO about this and they seem willing to look at it. I also have a Beaglebone AI with similar specs to the RPi4 at the ready.
