TOPIC: NanoPi M4

NanoPi M4 2 months 4 days ago #29435

Actually I would go for the "pc" version, but I am not sure whether I can address the GPIOs thru the wiringPi lib. for the nanoPi there is an adapted wiringPi lib available - which I hope would also work for the M4.

Once I have the nanoPi will check whether the Stellarmate OS would work, though I am having some doubts.

Mr.HelgeMK
I think that Stellarmate OS does not work due to different chipset.

Because the heat sink out of stock was being ordered, I ordered 2 GB.

I hope the NanoPi M4 desktop operating system (Ubuntu) is easy to use.

(ARM Ubuntu feels many trials & errors for each SBC)

As GPIO seems to be compatible with pinouts, I think I will replace GPS of RaspberryPi 3 and check it.

I think StellarMate is exclusive to RPI 3 / RPI 3 B +.
Can I use it with Friendly Elec?
(I think that chipset is too different to work) ..

What is it on Stellarmate that you need, other than KStars/EKOS?
I run Ubuntu Mate on my Friendly Elec NanoPC, which runs KStars, EKOS, and the whole INDO server well.
I connect to it from my Macbook via VNC too.

I'm not knocking Stellarmate, I have two of them. But I am just curious why you feel Ubuntu - either Ubuntu Mate or Lubuntu will not work for you.

I have previously set up both X86 and ARM Ubuntu.

Ubuntu of SBM of ARM feels that the function is degraded compared with Ubuntu on X86, and many of them feel that it is difficult to set Wifi and others.

Many settings were necessary to set the initial RaspberryPi 3 Wifi to AP mode.
(For X86 Ubuntu, the AP mode can be used with the standard function of the system)

For the reasons above, I have heard about AP mode setting before.

PS.
I plan to use INDI & Ekos on Friendly Desktop 18.04.

I confirmed the terminal arrangement of GPIO now, but it seems to be different from RPi 3. .
(I can not use the GPIOGPS I made. .)

That thing arrived.
I will report on my report.

system
rk3399-sd-friendlydesktop-biionic-4.4-arm 64-20180905.img
was used by.

I purchased the RAM 2 GB version.

Software you attempted to install
○ indicates no problem, △ indicates a slight problem, X can not be installed.

· AstroPi3 → x
Originally I attempted to set up with this script, but it did not work.
So installed manually.

· Kstarsbleeding → △
Installation succeeded but as a bug in the ARM 64 version

1. Language setting is not working.
It can not be used other than English.

· SAMBA server → △
I just installed it did not work. Setting of sambaconfig file is necessary.

· AP setting of WIFI → ○
It was easy to set with the system standard GUI.

· X11vnc → △
It was difficult to set automatic startup, and it took time to create environment that can be used.
Since it blackouts when sleeping, it is necessary to set it not to sleep.
It is also necessary to set X dummy and so on.

· PHD 2 → ○
I could install without problems.

· Open Sky Imager → x
I could not compile from the enclosed script and I could not install it.

· CCDCiel → ○
I could install without problems.

· Ciel Skychart → x
I could not install from the deb file.

· Oacapturer → x
I could not install from the deb file.

· Openssh server → ○
After installation, it was able to be used without problem.

· LinGuider → ○
After installation, it was able to be used without problem.

· ZWO driver→ x

I used ASI120MC (compatible firmware installed), but it did not work with INDI, LinGuider, PHD 2 all.

● Summary
Some software could not be installed or a problem was seen.
I think there is probably a problem with Ubuntu 18 based system and ARM 64 integrity.

Although Kstar + Ekos could be installed, it is hard to use because the INDI control panel and the Ekos window protrude and you can not change the language environment. (I guess this is probably because the optimization of the application is not progressing)
Memory was 2GB and there was no problem at all.

It resembles the earlier RaspberryPi3 defect.

I felt it needed a little time for the environment to mature.

This is good news, hope to receive the M4 the next few days.

On X11vnc, can you tell more what you needed to do to get going? (If you remember)

Best. Helge

Please make the following settings after installation.

sudo nano /home/pi/.config/autostart/x11vnc.desktop

Describe the following contents and save.

[Desktop Entry]
Exec = x11vnc -forever -repeat -loop
Type = Application

X11vnc starts after rebooting, but seems to be unable to access the password input screen after sleeping.

Umm. .
The ZWO120C driver crashes. .
Since the window protrudes, you can not set the INDI control panel.

It is hard to say that it is stable.
