Autofocus not always activated ?

I recently posted to say that Autofocus was not active when filter is changed. Then I posted that it was working (no changes to settings).
I am now finding that the Autofocus is not always activated. Last night is wasn't working. I reset everything , rebooted the PI, turned settings off an on, replugged
all equipment. Still nothing. After an hour of messing around it finally decided to work. I have no idea why it started to work at this point.
I have tried it using the simulator just now on local workstatiion (Ubuntu 20.4 -focus simulator, filter simulator etc) and still it isn't working. I set Red 1x1sec, Green 1x1 sec, it just goes straight through without stopping to refocus.
In filter settings I have Autofocus checked for every filter and exposure set to 1.
Anyone any idea. Is there some hidden setting I failed to check ? Latest kstars installed : kstars 3.5.8+202203242252~ubuntu20.04
