Connecting Microtouch focuser with USB interface

My computer is a 2014 Mac Mini (Big Sur OS). I’ve been doing astrophotography with Windows running under Parallels. I’ve got to get away from Windows.
INDI on the Mac recognizes OpenWeatherMap, SkySafari, my QHY128C imaging camera, the Meade DSI guide camera, and PHD2.
I have to find solutions for two INDI problems.

First problem.
INDI seems to think that the Microtouch focuser can only be connected via Serial or Ethernet.
My Microtouch focuser is connected via USB.
What do I need to do to get INDI to recognize the focuser on the USB port?

Second problem.
Besides not connecting to Microtouch, INDI isn’t letting me enter the IP address for the Losmandy Gemini II controller (this is noted in another topic).

I have the same problem - can only get my Microtouch to connect via serial port & I have to manually slot map it each time with the serial port assistant to do so.
The focuser also fails to move each time post meridian flip.
These two issues must be related!
Has anyone looked into this, or got Stellarmate working 100% successfully with a microtouch controller?
Would really welcome a solution.
TIA
