Hi all. Question re setting in focus module.
Sometimes Autofocus goes below step which will actually move my focuser and focus carries on oblivous but going nowhere.
Using geared 1.8deg nema17 5x with 3x belt drive and half step giving 6000 steps per rev of coarse focus knob ( myFocuserPro Moonlight driver)
and SEP 1-Focus-default, Linear in focus module options.
Maybe another set of options might help ?
Cheers.

Linear shouldn't ever step below stepSize/2.

It has 2 passes, in the first it moves in (to lower position numbers) by stepSize,
In its 2nd pass it moves in by stepSize/2.
If you set step size, you should be able to set things up so that your step size isn't too small for your focuser.

It can move larger than step size when (a) it's moving out and in to start a pass, and (b) when it things it's far from the focus position.

If you still believe that Linear steps smaller than half stepSize, please send a log with focus debugging turned on.

Hi there. Woops !.
I think it is a mechanical issue. The belt pulley has a wobble and was brushing against another part near focus point
stopping it from moving.
ok so stepsize/2 is the minumum.
Thanks for your response.

Where is the stepSize parameter located? I can only find "initial step size".
(I'm getting ok initial v-curves, but the fucus is not very accurate as the algorithm jumps over the exact fucus point at the end, so i suspect it ends up taking to large steps to pinpoint the fucus....)

Yes, "Initial Step Size" is what I was referring to.
You can play with that value, but making it too small can be problematic as well--you want the amount it moves to cause some change in the HFR values, and not be very noisy.

Thanks! Just to confirm, the overall focus accuracy is set by "initial step size"/2 ?

Hy - just to let you know Autofocus now working fine. The reason for teething problems was because I upgraded the motor and motor bracket to handle heavier gear, but all fine now.
Thanks.
