Total neophyte here. I've had the telescope equipment for several years (William Optics ZenithStar 103mm and a NexStar 8se) but after battling with trying to figure out how to get a Nikon D7200 to take photos (using Backyard Nikon) I got frustrated and put it all to the side. I recently got back interested in the equipment and ended up buying an ASI533MM with filter wheel and an ASI585MC (yep, back to spending money - just thought motorcycles was an expensive hobby).

This is a test image (single image) grabbed with SharpCapture with my NexStar 8se and the ASI585MC. I only had 21mm of back focus and apparently that setup needs 105mm. Even at that,I was proud of actually being able to get a photo! This was simply with the telescope and the camera. The only processing applied to it was some slight sharpening in Gimp. I think once I get the additional spacers in it will be even betetr.

BTW, I have also gotten into Astroberry and Stellarmate OS (HIGLY recommend this one as they have excellent support) on the Raspberry Pi - still getting everything configured and comfortable with playing with it (not a Linux newbie as I started with Slackware back in mid 90's)

Having fun learning about the cosmos.
I run an astrophotography site as a hobby.
