I have the same error. I can only find libindiclient.so.2 on my system but not libindiclient.so.1

Find libindiclient.so.2. On my computer that file is in the directory /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu.

Type sudo ln -s libindiclient.so.2 libindiclient.so.1

That will create a link between so.1 -> so.2

kstars now starts

Hi,
Thanks for the reply but...
Still the same problem after creating the link.
If I type again the command, I can see that the link exists but that doesn't solve the problem in my case.

pyb@PyBureau:~$ kstars
kstars: error while loading shared libraries: libindiclient.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
pyb@PyBureau:~$ sudo ln -s libindiclient.so.2 libindiclient.so.1
[sudo] Mot de passe de pyb :
ln: impossible de créer le lien symbolique 'libindiclient.so.1': Le fichier existe
pyb@PyBureau:~$

Hello,

If you have libindiclient.so.2 in /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu try to copy the file with new name:

sudo cp /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libindiclient.so.2 /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libindiclient.so.1

I think copying files or creating links to a shared lib is a bit of a hack. If it works it could be fine but you might get unexpected results.

A bit of a hack ... well thank you!

As a longtime Unix/Linux user, this has happened before. And, no, the consequences are not unexpected. I've never had it blowup on me. So, yes, one can wait for a software update that corrects the problem. But, if you had a planned observation for a night, and waiting is not an option, a simple link (or copy) to solve the problem is an easy fix.

I have try 2 commands below and kstars is back, but ekos is dead.

sudo ln -s libindiclient.so.2 libindiclient.so.1
sudo cp /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libindiclient.so.2 /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libindiclient.so.1

Hello,
testing my setup, I can now start Kstars but Ekos fails to remotely connect the PI4/Stellarmate server to the devices. See below.

All devices are well powered and connected to the Pi. Moreover when I start Ekos locally via VNC, all devices are well connected and controlled.

Finally, I suspect I get, as said Derek, some "unexpected result" due to the renaming of libindiclient.so.2 to libindiclient.so.1.

I think we would need an update to fix this problem of missing library.

Hello,

After removing the libindiclient.so.1 file from /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu directory, I installed the today kstars/Indi updates. That fixed the problem.
Remote connection to the Pi4 server works now as usual.

Great thanks to the developers :-)
