Hi

I'd like to use a local copy of the astrometry.net under Ekos. What are the steps needed to do that?

I've chosen the offline option, and I know I have to download the files that match the FOV of my setup. But I don't know how to do it in Ekos.

Thanks in advance,

Alfredo

You can use Synaptic to install a local version of astrometry.net.

You can install astrometry.net from Discover or from the command line as well.

Hi
I think the OP is asking what the steps are to install astronomy.net and then use it in Ekos.
AFAICT the answer is:

sudo apt-get install astrometry.net

then choose the index files you need following the steps here
You then access astronomy.net solver using the Ekos align module.
Is that it? Maybe kubuntu is different from ubuntu?

The only thing different between Kubuntu and Ubuntu is that Kubuntu uses KDE as default desktop and Ubuntu uses Gnome (version 3, Ubuntu MATE uses Gnome 2). So Synaptic amd Discover work as well, Alacant’s answer matches Jasem’s answer for using the command line.

But yes, you’ll need the index files as well. Thanks for pointing that out Alacant.

Hi
The OP has both astronomy.net and the index files installed or at least knows that he needs these. His question was how does he use these with Ekos.
I'm almost certain that this is by using the align module.

Or I've completely misunderstood the question. More than likely!

Reading back the original post you're right! I read it incorrectly at first.
