7 ports powered USB hub issue with EKOS #31455
Hi all,

I am having a problem setting up my 7 ports powered usb hub with EKOS.

1. I am using AZEQ5GT mount which connect to EKOS with USB cable directly plug in into my RPI3.
2. My powered usb hub also connect directly into my RPI3. But on the usb hub, 3 devices are connected which are arduino Leonardo focuser, qhyccd and ASI120mc guider.

Now the problem occurred when arduino focuser(on usb hub) and my mount are fighting for ttyUSB0. So, my question is how to make sure both of these ports are having different ttyUSBx?

Serial port mapping not working in my case too, I've tried.....

Please help......

Tom

Unplug all devices, and add one at a time and serial map it, then plug in next and serial map...and so on, it should work then.. :)

Takahashi FSQ85 & Meade 8” SCT (de-forked)

7 ports powered USB hub issue with EKOS #31462
Hi,

There are few scenarios here:

1. After I disconnect everything and only plug in the arduino focuser in the powered USB hub, lsusb shows nothing about ardunio but only this.

tom_astro@TomAstroPi:~$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 012: ID 2109:2812 VIA Labs, Inc. VL812 Hub
Bus 001 Device 011: ID 2109:2812 VIA Labs, Inc. VL812 Hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMSC9512/9514 Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9514 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMC9514 Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

2. When I unplug the focuser and plug in only mount, it shows this (The mount usb is directly connect to one of the RPI3 USB port. Not going through powered USB hub)

tom_astro@TomAstroPi:~$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 017: ID 067b:2303 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port
Bus 001 Device 012: ID 2109:2812 VIA Labs, Inc. VL812 Hub
Bus 001 Device 011: ID 2109:2812 VIA Labs, Inc. VL812 Hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMSC9512/9514 Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9514 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMC9514 Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

3. When I plug in both of the focuser (powered usb hub) and mount (RPI3 usb port), it shows this:

tom_astro@TomAstroPi:~$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 017: ID 067b:2303 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port
Bus 001 Device 012: ID 2109:2812 VIA Labs, Inc. VL812 Hub
Bus 001 Device 011: ID 2109:2812 VIA Labs, Inc. VL812 Hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMSC9512/9514 Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9514 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMC9514 Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

4. But if I plug in both the mount and focuser into RPI3 usb ports, it shows this (Which is never go through the powered usb hub)

tom_astro@TomAstroPi:~$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 022: ID 2341:8036 Arduino SA Leonardo (CDC ACM, HID)
Bus 001 Device 017: ID 067b:2303 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port
Bus 001 Device 012: ID 2109:2812 VIA Labs, Inc. VL812 Hub
Bus 001 Device 011: ID 2109:2812 VIA Labs, Inc. VL812 Hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMSC9512/9514 Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9514 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMC9514 Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Is it because the powered usb hub not compatible with rpi3? or anything that I need to do with this usb hub?

Please advice.

Tom

Hmmmm, So looking at the above, nothing is showing that’s plugged into the USB hub...strange but the orico USB hubs are usually very very good.
Maybe it is a USB driver issue for the hub, is there a way to update the Linux drivers for USB, but in saying that, it should be done during a normal software update... ;) ;)

Is it a USB 3 hub?

The reason for asking is that I bought a powered USB3 hub recently because my USB2 hub lost one of its ports. So I changed it and plugged SBIG cam, ASI 120MM-S (USB3 model) and USB2Serial cable for EQMod in. Surprisingly everything worked but the serial connection didn't. And it wasn't listed with lsusb just as yours. So I think that using a serial2usb connection might not work on USB3. I checked it with both RPI3 and my Laptop but as far as I remember there was no difference.

I use a USB hub with my RPi.

I find that the QHY-II-M needs to be plugged into the powered hub, else no joy.

I find that my moonlite and EQ-Mod cables (both using serial to USB converters) both need to go the the RPi.
No luck if I plug them into the hub.
