I have Kstars/Ekos installed on my Linux Mint desktop. Whats the best way to uninstall previous version and install latest stable release. I read on the internet that one should use aptitude and the purge option.
irst, purge all the KStars and INDI packages, if they are installed:
sudo aptitude purge indi-bin libindi-data libindi1 libindidriver1
sudo aptitude purge kstars kstars-data
Add Jasim Mutlaq's PPA respository for KStars, and INDI. It includes Ekos as part of KStars.
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mutlaqja/ppa
sudo aptitude update
Would this work?

No you won’t have two versions, when you run the updater on your system it will just update the version you have to the latest one, so you will just have one and it will be the latest... ....simples...
