asked no one answers. Others have said run it to fix my problem. The icon does nothing?

Will I have it - if I buy the stellarmate OS SD download? But then it will only work on that OS install? not from Astroberry?
why is there a link on all kstars/ekos if we don't have it?
I don't relish the idea of setting up yet another custom Kstars (I've done it at last 6 times) = (

Serial port assistant is a feature specific to stellar mate.

My astropi3 script installs a script with a related functionality.

But I’m not sure about astroberry

I do not handle this on Astroberry Server. I need to include it in the next release.
Rob, could you point me to your script so I don't reinvent the wheel?

You will definitely have it if you Have SM, you only need to buy the OS not the whole unit...and the serial port assistant works very well.... :)
No it won’t work on astronerd it’s just on SM, as for the new button in ekos, the one next to the “start” button, that’s new and not set up yet, there are other ways to get to it though....there is a icon in your ekos profile to get to it, but it will only work with SM...

I'd buy SM OS but I don't want to start over. I've configured Kstars to the max. (is there a config file? that I could easily load into or dump into another Kstars install!?

If I run SM and set up the ports. Couldn't I copy those named files from one install to another? At this point I have most everything connecting, but can't get the Pyxis or the cloudwatcher to connect. I'm living without those at this point - but if I get use to Kstars - then I will surely need both.

I’m trying a clean install of stellarmate 1.3.2 and serial port assistant will not launch. The button has no response. So I can’t use gps with EQMOd mount

I'll give it a try but last time I tried it on 1.3.2, it was not able to assign a hard port address. I'll try again with this clean install

The web manager was able to setup the ports. I could only verify that the hardware mappings were unique when I remotely accessed StellarMate from KStars on a Mac, in which case the serial port assistant appeared and showed the mappings. However, when connecting to the hardware, the GPS info was not updated from the GPS device. There is no way to configure it either. since my GPS device is 4800 baud, I had to update the rc.local file on StellarMate with the command "stty -F /dev/gps 4800" which has worked in the past but is not working now.

Anyway, thanks for your help. At this point, I think I'll remove GPS from the system. If I get a hold of a GPS with real USB (not serial port adapter) I'll try it again.

That's what I was going to suggest too but make sure you select LOCAL or it won't find the server and astrometry will mot work.
