Hello,
I use fitswork to view fits files on my windows PC. It's very good but only allows to view one file at a time.
Is there a fits file browser? I searched but couldn't find any.
I need a viewer/browser which shows all fits files in a folder so that i can discard the bad ones.
Thanks!

Replied by Eric on topic Re:Fits viewer for Windows

Under Windows, DeepSkyStacker has a good and fast viewer. Under Linux, except the Blink process of Pixinsight, I could not find something efficient. I have a very very rough coding attempt that I want to merge in Ekos this year as a frame analyzer, but nothing more.

I added something I think it was called FITS4WIN ? It allows you to see icon/thumbnails of your fits files! (like jpg photos) AND allows any photo viewer to load and show FITS format images.
yeah. very cool. There was a trial - then it was pretty cheap. 20? 30 bucks?

On Linux, this has been supported in KDE for more than a year in its Dolphin file manager thanks to Csaba efforts.

Yeah.. For some reason I ignored DSS's browsing capabilities.
I think that's the best (free) choice for Windows.
Fitswork is very good for fits files manipulation - someone mentioned it could also browse but I couldn't find the way how to.

Well worth it to me - for the functionality. And I think it allows 2-3 machines. I have it in the dome, on my deskop etc.

I just discovered Regim which is an image processor written in Java. It works on MacOS (I tried) and it should work on Windows and Linux as well. It is free and allows you to inspect FITS files. It even has a blink tool built in. See
