Hello fellow Astronomers,
I just installed a virtual machine under Windows 10 running KUbuntu 19.04 and installed INDI library.
I added the repository with

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mutlaqja/ppa
sudo apt-get update

and did a full install

sudo apt-get install indi-full gsc

However I get message that package gsc cannot be found.

Then i did install of KStars/Ekos package with

sudo apt-get install indi-full kstars-bleeding

Upon opening INDI Web server to configure my INDI environment I have only acouple of CCD cameras available, no ZWO Asi Camera and also
other drivers are missing.

How can I install the gsc package???

Any hint is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

You have to add the indinightly repository first:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mutlaqja/indinightly

then install gsc:

sudo apt-get install gsc

Hello,
I added this ppa, but I get a warning that THE NIGHTLY LIB IS INTENDED FOR TESTING ONLY AND NOT FOR PRODUCTION USE.

After adding the indinightly repository I get the same error message upon installing gsc:

Package gsc cannot be found....

So adding the indinightly rep does not resolve the issue.

Did you do a "sudo apt-get update", too? If so, I've run out of ideas.

What I am about to write now is not a solution for your problem, but rather a workaround. Is there a particular reason that you installed KUbuntu 19.04? Perhaps you could use the Long Term Support (LTS) version 18.04 and try with that? I use that version for all my imaging with Ekos and at least all drivers are available. I never use GSC so I am not sure if it is available.

On the other hand, looking at the repository at

launchpad.net/~mutlaqja/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

I see that gsc, indi-asi and asi-common are available for 19.04 so this must mean something else is wrong. Can you try to do a full system update by running these commands

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y && sudo apt dist-upgrade -y && sudo apt-get clean

and try again?

Hello,
I did exactly what you suggested:

sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y && sudo apt dist-upgrade -y && sudo apt-get clean

Then I got the message that all packages were up-to-date and no package was added nor updated.
When trying to install

sudo apt-get install indi-full gsc

I again receive message that package gsc cannot be found...

Hi,

Very strange. In the mean time I installed KUbuntu 19.04 in a (VirtualBox) virtual machine, did a full update as I asked you to do, added Jasem's ppa and issued

sudo apt-get install indi-full kstars-bleeding gsc

and all is being installed right now. No errors about missing packages or so. The installed version of gsc is 1.3~ubuntu19.04.1 so I am afraid that something is wrong with the OS in your virtual machine.

I ran into the same issue and reverted back to 18.04 and all went well. I do however find that sometimes packages will fail to install if I do the entire command line but if I instead do a sudo apt-get install indi-full then a sudo apt-get install kstars-bleeding and finally a sudo apt-get install gsc that sometimes works better.

However with 19.10 it did not matter. Still failed to find gsc.

Hi mpfjr,

Have a look at the repository URL that I posted a few comments ago. The gsc package indeed is missing for 19.10 but it is there for 19.04.

Jasem, any reason why?

I just triggered a rebuild for both release and nightly PPA for 19.10 and 20.04

Hello All,
I have now created a VM based upon KUbuntu 18.04 LTS.
I installed the full INDI package including KStars/Ekos and all 3rd party drivers (GSC) with no problem
and the VM works flawlessly. So the problem ist really related to KUbuntu 19.10.

Thanks to all for your suggestions!

The packages of gsc for 19.10 and 20.04 are visible now in the repository.
