I would expect different firmware because the 383 uses a Kodak CCD while your camera uses a Sony CCD.

One thing you did was disconnect and reconnect the CCD - the white ribbon cable - and that could easily have remade a bad connection. That's exactly the sort of thing that your information suggested was the problem.

Cable and connector issues happen more often than people expect.

I have a clear night... but the Atik is not working... back to square one...

My Atik 314 is with Atik at the moment, they are going to check it. From what they said, they could be looking at replacing the PCB.
I must say that Atik is a very nice company to deal with. This camera is very old and they did not seem to mind that. Top marks for Atik.

Did you test with other software to be sure it was the camera and not KStars/EKOS?

Recently my images were coming out solid black when I updated to 3.3.9. Then I started to see the same in 3.3.8. I think the driver version updated. Anyhow, the driver reset to 8-bit images instead of 16-bit. This caused my frames to come out black on a ZWO camera. Anyhow, just a thought you might look at.

I have tried the camera on my Windows machine (I hate Windows), same nothing coming out. I will let Atik run all the tests they can do, only them will have the final say about my camera.

My Atik camera is on its way back, nothing wrong was found with it. In perfect working order.
The team at AtikCameras is extremely friendly and patient. A very good company.

Did you check the USB cable ? (corrosion!) Do you have a USB HUB ?

I have now tested my camera since it came back the other day, using my mac laptop, a very good strong USB cable and the original Atik power supply.
The mistake I've done this time was to upgrade Kstars to 3.3.9 and not keep 3.3.8
So far the camera works, but it's not use here... lol
I shall do The proper testing at my observatory in February.

What does KStars 3.3.9 have to do with this?

It wasn't working with 3.3.8 now it's working with 3.3.9
