Hi!

I start this as a new topic not to confuse the other on focusing. I've been thinking lately a lot about SNR and focusing - and I have a strong feeling that part of my intermittent challenges with focus have to do with low SNR. But: I can not see the SNR value of the chosen star in the focus module - or can I? If not, is there a way to show it?

The SNR is part of statistics provided by the FITS viewer, so I suppose that could be displayed. The SNR could also be used to control the exposure for focus, yes, just like phd2 is supposed to do with its automatic exposure feature.

Excellent! I didn't know it was there. I'll have to go check that out (whenever I can see the stars again... dang clouds).

Hi!

Great idea to see if focuser could use SNR for setting exposure times. Maybe even for full field...

There is no SNR calculation now. There is a placeholder for it, but a reliable SNR is not calculated. Maybe after we add a probe to the FITS View.
