I am not touching PI even with a ten-feet pole..
I did give Siril a try thought. It produced better results than DSS (for "freezing" the comet).
I think I am OK with comets now.
What I need is darker skies...
Thanks!

Here's what I've got.
Comet C/2019 Y4 ATLAS. Double montage. Stars "frozen" + comet "frozen" + the Moon to show the scale.
30x240s. ASI294MC Pro. Gain 200. -5C. LPro filter. AT72EDII scope. Bortle 9 with street lights all around.
Acquired with KStas/Ekos, Stellarmate 1.5.1 on RPI4. Stacked with Siril (worked better than DSS), processed in APP (to stretch and remove light pollution) and Photoshop.

I'm curious how you went about this... did you stack everything twice? Like stack once for the starfield (which on a median stack or average stack with median rejection ought to remove the comet) and then stack again for the comet, which you then must have copied across to the starfield shot? If you do a comet stack in Siril you'll get star trailing.

Personally, I'm always a tad leery of putting a shot of the Moon in because there are quite a lot of faked photos around with vastly out-of-scale moonshots. I get the reasoning of providing scale but I think I'd encapsulate it in an "inset" box (at scale of course) to make it clear that the Moon never appeared in that starfield.

Agree on the Moon.

Yes I stacked twice. Lassoed out the comet from the comet stack and pasted/blended into the starfield stack. Luckily, the comet didn't have large stars close-by (there's still some light trailing around).
