Thank you very much Gonzothegreat!
I changed the sub-menu items order, as you reported they were refering to the old ordering.
I also placed the new theme to all items which were refering to the old layout and the remaining pages also.
If the map is really too low and almost invisible, I can remove the top banner ( I used 1080p resolution but I see that in lower resolutions it's practically not accessible)... yes .. done
The Research menu involves registered users only, so the two submission pages are available to them, so only after login you'll see the items "Add your Observatory", "Submit Article" and the article submission guidelines into the Research main page.
About the menu.. brief history:
Initially it had to be "Manufacturers" "Developers", "End-users"
after this the idea was to point to educational and observatories with "Research", "Industries" and "Individuals" where research include observatories, universities, research institutions and centers, Industries includes free-lancer developers, employees of astronomy industries in wide-range point of view (from research to aerospace to amateur astronomy industries), and Individuals everyone who wants to use, try, improve and just supports INDI.
Since INDI contains code for instrumentation that is interesting for hardware manufacturers also, I thought that developers only was a little restricting, nothing else.
I had an issue with the new web page where, when trying to login, it asked me a CAPTCHA question, but the question was white on white, so I couldn't read the question and answer it.
I tried to re-create it, but never got the CAPTCHA again, so I can't post a pic.
Besides the readability issue, the login pop-up's white background is also a bit too bright/white for my tastes. Perhaps a little color, any color, would be an improvement.
Orion Atlas Pro, William Optics ZS105, WO reducer, Moonlight mini V2 focuser
ZWO ASI1600, OAG & Filterwheel, Astronomik Filters, QHY 5L-II mono guidecam.
KStars/Ekos/Indi all running on an RPi4
Ekos Projects: Analyze, Linear Focuser, SEP MultiStar & GPG Guiding, FITS autostretch, Polar Alignment
I had the same problem with the CAPTCHA, the way around that is to select the area where the question is asked with the cursor (of course, that means you first need to know that there is question in the white area below). Then it becomes visible.
Atlas Pro AZ-EQ, ASI1600MM-Pro, ASI120MM-S, ES102ED, WO-Z61, Nikon D3300, ASI-EFW, ZWO LRGB,Ha,O3,S2 filter set
Maybe a redirect would be good until google catches up to the new link, or to make sure legacy links keep working. Worst case, all /devices links could forrward to something like www.indilib.org/old-devices.html
Personally, I’d like to help with duration of the third party materials and in general tidy up the instructions and hidden tutorials from the forums. Probably one of the biggest confusions first a n00b like me was the importance of the control panel. It’s more of a second user interface and could do within some love.
Some of the older material such as the Indiduino project needs a refresh, it points to content that’s not well documented and isn’t being updated for example.
Happy to do all that under someone’s leadership.
