no more image captures after meridian flip? was created by Scott Denning

Thank you for your help with the CEM40 yesterday!

Now I am working with an (unguided) Bisque Paramount. Meridian flip executed on schedule, and then post-flip alignment (with differential slew) worked like a charm.

But with 4 more hours of darkness, no further captures were attempted post flip.

Logs show no entries for more than 3 hours after flip until astronomical twilight shut things down.

Please help me understand what I need to set to get image capture to continue following a successful meridian flip and post-flip alignment?

Hi Jasem (and Wolfgang & Eric).

Any progress on this? I'd like to be able to do unguided imaging with my Paramount in Ekos, but it doesn't appear to be possible.

I just posted a fix as merge request. If you know how to compile from sources, you could grab it directly from my KStars clone invent.kde.org/wreissenberger/kstars.git and take the branch bugfix_mf_wo_guiding

I have compiled KStars from sources before, but not on this machine, so I need to start fresh.

Is the following the correct way to get your bug fix:

git clone -b bugfix_mf_wo_guiding invent.kde.org/wreissenberger/kstars.git

then just build as usual?

Hopefully this makes it into the nightly ppa soon too.

Yes, that's right. I had it running last night, meridian flip worked fine for me, but in combination with guiding.

Assuming this was commit e6a69db89152 in the main branch: I had a test with that yesterday, and a MF without guiding succeeded and continued a sequence.

Also, in that configuration (i.e., without guiding), the frame number counting was correct. The file before the flip was saved as M_13_Light_029.fits, the one after the flip as M_13_Light_030.fits.

However, later that night in a real observation with guiding, it showed again the previously reported error of not advancing the frame number and overwriting the last frame taken before the MF.

I had some attached to the linked post in the other thread.
Here's the full log from yesterday, with both flips. No debug settings though :( After the first one worked I had assumed it had been fixed....

The log looks good, the counting around the meridian flip is appropriate. Before MF, image #29 is completed and after MF, it continues with image #30.

Could you please list the file names of the R frames? There should be 33 R frames.available due to the log file

That was a test run, without guiding (which is why I replied here). That was indeed successful.
But there's a second MF around 01:20/01:22. That is 'real' observations, with guiding (PHD2).
There it saves file Light_073.fits before the flip, and (again) Light_073.fits after the flip as "Received image 74 out of 200."
The Ha directory contains 199 files (not 200), and the time stamps show the 01:22 file is missing, and has been overwritten by the 01:25 one:
