Light leak was created by Mohamed

Hello,

After changing my camera to a monochrome one, I found what looks like a light leak always comes from the right side of the shots when exposure is 30 seconds or more. I tried to locate the source without success. Any idea how to solve this problem is appreciated...

Thank you

That's amp glow. It's a known issue for CMOS camera, you can read more on it.

Btw, your stars are either out of focus, or saturated, or both.

Thanks Jassem, I’ll look into the cmos amp glow.

About the stars being out of focus or saturated, I understand the out of focus but not the saturated part. Can you please highlight what do you mean by that?

When light still generates signal on the imaging chip, but the maximum value that can be recorded is already reached.
Then some information about the shape of the star is lost, because it will be truncated.

Thank you Bart. I've been reading about the proper GAIN/offset/exposure calculations for my camera, and it seems that I'm lost. Is there is an easy way to calculate the proper values to be used when we decide to make exposure?

Dark frames are also an effective method to remove amp glow.

Thank you Ihoujin... You are correct. In my yesterday shooting for M1, I found that I've been using the wrong exposure for the dark frames. I shot them again, and all the glow is gone away.
