FITS previews when saved, save only red channel

When I open a fits file saved from a capture preview in the FITS viewer I get an B&W image with only the red channel
In the picture, right is the preview after shooting; left is the same picture after being saved and opened again with FITS viewer:

This does not happen if the picture is produced using a sequence.
In the picture, left is the FITS viewer showing the Light that was captured; left the same image after being saved and reopened

Am I missing something ?

System just updated to new KStars 3.5.2 stable

Reviving this old post. I have something similar and can't work it out.
ASI 183MC Pro takes 3 minute subs. After each capture it shows in FITS viewer but only the red channel is there. The actual saved image has RG&B but the preview only red.
Am I doing something obviously wrong ?

I would check your settings. Debayering takes significant resources, so there are settings for turning off that feature. KStars has to work on computers like Raspberry Pis and so it has options to turn off CPU or ram intensive features. The data still gets saved with all the channels and details, but when displayed in FITSViewer, it is just displayed as monochrome with those options turned off.

Bang on Rob!
Auto-debayer unchecked.
Once checked I have "colour" :)
