I'm thinking of using Kstars, Ekos and Indi on a basic tracking only mount, with the mount set to simulator and the actual camera set to do the capture sequences in the capture module
An added bonus with this setup would be if I could use the manual slew option and rotate the mount via a clutch on the tracker for the polar alignment routine.
The question is, does the mount have to slew the exact angle set in the alignment routine for the rotation, or would a manually placed near enough rotation be OK?
You need to check the manual slew box in the PAA tool before you take your first alignment image. It will then wait for you to push the mount, by no specific degree. 15°-30° will do. Then you trigger it to take the next alignment image.
