INDI Library v2.0.6 is Released (02 Feb 2024)

Bi-monthly release with minor bug fixes and improvements

indi_celestron_gps not reporting RA/Dec

The indi_celestron_gps driver no longer reports the RA/Dec.

indi_getprop returns:
Celestron GPS.EQUATORIAL_EOD_COORD.RA=0
Celestron GPS.EQUATORIAL_EOD_COORD.DEC=0
and also Kstars shows the telescope pointer at RA=0, Dec=0.

This feature of indi_celestron_gps worked two months ago on the same machine. I use Xubuntu 12.04, 32bits and presently have libindidriver0b 0.9.6-0ubuntu1~ubuntu12.04~ppa1.

Regards,
Cees

Hello, can you install libindi 0.9.7, and try to see how it works in there? Under Ubuntu:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mutlaqja/paa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libindi0

Unfortunately this gives the same results.

This is odd, as I tested indi_celestron_gps myself just 10 days ago and it's all working fine. So this must be another issue unrelated to the driver. Are you able to connect to the mount from any other program? Also, are you sure you are running indiserver + indi_celestron_gps from libindi 0.9.7 as binaries from older libindi are still in the system unless you explicitly remove the older package.

Hi Jasem,

To double check everything I installed 0.9.7 on my laptop which also runs XUbuntu 12.04 32bit. I launch INDI through Kstars and I can use it to connect and operate the mount. Everything appears to work except that the driver does not report the current RA and Dec back to Kstars. For example, indi_getprop returns
Celestron GPS.EQUATORIAL_EOD_COORD.RA=0
Celestron GPS.EQUATORIAL_EOD_COORD.DEC=0

If you can setup an SSH access so I can login and check it out myself that would be great. Let me know what time is suitable if you agree.

I just tested on my friend's NextStar Advanced GT mount and everything worked flawlessly.

Hi ,
I am new to the forum, I have a Celestron CN-8-GT (AS-GT) that uses indi.

I got the same problem -- AR / DEC = 0, both from xephem and skycharts (by control panel and dcd.py).

Platform : Acer 5755G with Linux Ubuntu x64 14.04 LTS.
Celestron Gps driver reports version 2 (i did not find any sources about this version).
Libindi is 0.97-0ubuntu4.

Reading this post I did not understand which was the found issue and the solution.

Can explain me better ??
Is something related to 64bit platform ?

skysnifffer

P.S.: Everything works with Ascom and Win7 x64.

There were localization issues with libindi 0.9.7, try using v0.9.8 or latest version from PPA

The new libindi version 0.98 from PPA is OK, I found very interesting new features in Celestron GPS, time and location set commands, that were missing in previous version.

Just a detail :
Anybody that knows ...
which is the time format that must be passed in xephem indi configuration window ....
....is welcome (examples of Posix and JD date time formats) .... indilib.org/media/kunena/emoticons/tongue.png

Thanks
