Yes, this is odd.
Might have something to do with wifi.
I use AZ-GTi in Station Mode so that it connects to RPI hotspot automatically.
Sometimes AZ disables the Station Mode for no apparent reason.
I'll check tomorrow.

Jasem,
I double-checked - the mount cannot connect to SM 1.4.2 hot-spot.
I tried to connect to the hot-spot with my phone and instead of an immediate connection,
I was presented with connectivitycheck.gstatic.com login window.
I suspect that is the reason for the mount not being able to connect to SM.

Here's the relevant part of the log:

Thanks, I didn't have time at all to test it yesterday.. hopefully I'll have sometime today. It's already on my TODO list.

I was experiencing the disconnections so I have just decided to make the eqdir cables: one fully wired (which has been briefly tested inside home, although no tracking or guiding tests yet), another with a bluetooth ttl interface (not tested).

You can find a lot of documents, including how to make the cables, here:

elakrab,
Upgraded my setup with RPI4 running SM 1.4.3.
Same issue with SM wifi hotspot (all is well with SM 1.3 but not with 1.4).
Ordered parts for EQDir cable.
Hopefully it works.

Is anyone able to successfully use AZ-GTi in Station Mode (mount auto-connects to SM hotspot) with SM 1.4.x?

Thanks!

I think I ha e seen an issue reported elsewhere on this forum to do with the hotspot on the rpi4 with the new beta version, nothing to do with your mount, just maybe an issue with the hotspot signal, now I altered my hotspot from within the network settings to use 5ghz, instead of being set to auto or 2.4ghz, have you tried that..?

I did. I don't think the mount supports 5gHz. Tried all wifi options - no go.

Ok, well in that case, have you tried setting it to 2.4 as opposed to auto as it may be flicking between them and causing dropouts... just a thought... :)

I'm using the following setup

Internet <....> (wlan0) | Raspberry PI | (virtual ap0 over wlan0) <......> Az Gti. It works just fine.

Yes, the same wlan0 on the raspberry both connects to the internet and creates a hotspot for the Az Gti and other devices.

My problem was the power supply.
I was using a charging port of a USB hub (2.1A).
It was enough for RPI3 but, apparently, not enough for RPI4.
Switched to an official 3A+ power supply and that fixed my problem.
Currently, exploring options to make the system work in the field (without a power outlet).
-- USB y-splitter cable. Hopefully it will give me 2 x 2.1A total current from the hub to RPI.
-- 12V-to-5.1V 5A DC-DC converter.

Thanks!

None of 1.4.x releases worked for me in terms of WiFi hotspot connection to the mount .
I gave up on the WiFi and DIY'ed an EQDir cable which works well.
Currently using 1.4.3 (RPI4) with latest updates. All is well.

No, actually, it didn't work.
It's odd... After a fresh flash and setup, wifi hotspot would work.
Could work for hours or even days but then would become extremely flaky and then unusable..
I tried to troubleshoot but was not successful.
I use an EQDir cable now. One extra cable but it works.
