Hi Jasem, does it make any difference to ekos / indi if the latitude is displayed as -3° or as 357°? It seems to try and default to 357°, and I change it
cheers

Not sure why it's crashing on park. Try to put this in a browser:
http://192.168.0.8:80/GOHOME?HOME=0

What response do you get back?

Run the driver via gdb in the terminal:
sudo apt-get install libc6-dbg indi-qhy-dbg
gdb -ex "set follow-fork-mode child" -ex run --args indiserver -v indi_starbook_telescope indi_simulator_ccd

In Ekos, create a new profile, turn off Auto Connect and add CCD Simulator + Starbook. Set mode to remote and leave it to localhost. In Logs, make sure to select Verbose Logging to File, check INDI + Mount. Click Start then in INDI Control Panel --> Starbook --> Options, make sure "Driver Debug" is checked. Then go back to Main Control Panel and press "Connect". Park the mount and Check the terminal to see if the driver crashed, if it did, type backtrace and paste the trace here. Also attach the KStars log file.

odd.... the debug isn't suppose to fix anything, it's just to record backtraces in case of crash.

I am part of this discussion because I am very interested.
I have a Vixen SXP with StarBook Ten and during my first tests with Kstars I got to use it.
After making the first configuration, the StarBook Ten was
immediately recognized and connected and many commands, they worked perfectly,
however I found some big problems with the assisted Polar Allign e
with the Plate Solver and after making many attempts,
following the advice they suggested to me on this forum,
I had to abandon all of this and believe the problem
is due to the fact that the drive is NOT for the StarBook Ten, but for the Starbook (or at least I think).
But I didn't understand if the drive has to be installed manually,
because if so, the problem could be that,
because I simply selected it from the EKOS settings.
If it needs to be downloaded instead, you could tell me where I can do the
download and how to install it on my Mac with High Sierra.
The only problem is that right now I couldn't do any tests,
why I had to send the StarBook Ten to service, why
I have problems with the buttons, which don't work well and seen that
without him I can't use the mount, I decided to send too
this under maintenance.
Thank you

Replied by Laurent on topic Vixen Starbook driver

Hi,

First I intruduce myself, I'm Laurent observing and imaging night sky from East side of France.
I'm very new here and that's my first post.
I'm not comfortable with Linux but I was dropped in this forum with my research. So I have especially installed Ubuntu on my laptop to be able to use INDI driver for my mount.

I'm owner of a Vixen Starbook mount and I'd like to connect it to my laptop, I have passed days and days trying solve this without success, that's why I need help now.

I was wondering if someone could help me:

I explain:
First I succeed installing UBUNTU!!
Then I install Kstars
and Starbook driver following instruction here indilib.org/devices/telescopes/vixen/vixen-starbook.html

First question, is this the right way to install the last driver version, or should I update it from Github (I don't now how), how can I check revision of my driver installed?

I have installed also indi web server to start the driver.

I have connected the starbook device to a small wifi router configured to use same network than starbook do (169.254.1.1)
I have connected my laptop to this wifi router
Kstars via Ekos succed on connecting with starbook but always with an error message telling that location and local time cannot been transfered, PHD2 fail connecting to the mount.
Second question, is this error due to the revision of the driver or something else?

I'm now trying to connect starbook directly to my laptop using the same network than I m using Internet with 192.168.x.x adress, it doesn't work as starbook always get 169.254.1.1 or 169.254.0.1
Is there a way to change starbook IP adress?
I have to configure my Lan network to the same than the Starbook and it works but when I try to connect the mount with PHD2 it fails, INDI configuration works the mount is connected but when I go out of mount configuration the connection is lost.

I'm a little bit confused.

thanks for your help

"I'm now trying to connect starbook directly to my laptop using the same network than I m using Internet with 192.168.x.x adress, it doesn't work as starbook always get 169.254.1.1 or 169.254.0.1"

Perhaps the simplest thing to do is to add a route to the internal router of your laptop, altough "169.xxx.xxx.xxx " addresses are not reserved for private networks, in general.
If you do use an integrated ADSL/Fibre modem/Hub at your home you could :
0) Browse to it (generally, http://192.168.1.1/)
1) login with user/password (generally labeled behind the modem)
2) add another local IP address/subnet to it (for example: 169.254.1.2/255.255.255.248)
3) connect Starbook direcly to the modem or via an hub
4) try to ping it from your laptop (that usually uses already your modem as router)
In case, try with "traceroute 169.168.1.1" to see where communication breaks

Not sure, but it can worth a try,,,
