Upgrade to bullseye was created by Steve

Hi,

Is there any reason NOT upgrading Stellarmate OS to Bullseye? I'm currently running:

$ cat /etc/stellarmate/version
1.7.2

$ apt-cache policy indi-bin
indi-bin:
Installé : 1.9.7-stable~202207291106
Candidat : 1.9.7-stable~202207291106
Table de version :
*** 1.9.7-stable~202207291106 500
500 ppa.stellarmate.com/repos/apt/stable buster/main armhf Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
1.7.5+dfsg-1 500
500 raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian buster/main armhf Packages

$ cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/ buster main contrib non-free rpi

If not, I cannot find a good resources explaining the best path to bullseye. I would:

$ sudo sed -e 's/bookworm/bullseye/' /etc/apt/sources.list
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt dist-upgrade

reboot.

Would this be correct?

It would probably work - my stellarmate is running v1.7.4 on a bullseye base.

That said, you might want to just download 1.7.4 and do a clean install.

Thanks for the answer.

Finally went for the above traditional approach. Had to change to bullseye in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/{raspi,smos}.list.

Had to fix some small issues during the process, but all in all went pretty smoothly. Only surprise was that kstars was uninstalled.

Now running stellarmate 1.7.3 (and not 1.7.4 like you) on bullseye base.

How do you get stellarmate 1.7.4 ?

I found a script which does that:

/etc/stellarmate/set-release.sh

One can pass either 'stable' or 'nightly', I guess the latter is for version 1.7.4.

But I don't understand, I thought 1.7.4 was the actual stable version. Is this right?

Just to close this issue.

I was running a 32 bit version of SM OS. Stellarmate has stopped supporting 32 bit version at the beginning of 2023 which explains why I couldn't upgrade.

So I had to reinstall from scratch with the 64 bit version.

Problem solved.
