Have you tried to set the hand controller into DirectPC mode?

Please open a terminal on the Stellarmate without the mount connected and type

dmesg -w

This will print out a lot of kernel messages and wait till all is printed. Then plug in the mount. New messages should appear. Can you post those here? Type CTRL-C to exit dmesg.

Hi Hades,

I have one of the newer mounts with a USB port built into the mount body. II'm not using the hand-controller.

www.cloudynights.com/topic/665052-new-usb-port-on-eq6-r/

I've tried a few things, but haven't seen any answer for my specific problem.

Hi Androgena,

Strange that no device gets created. Have you tried the Scan Ports button in the Main Control tab of the mount tab in the INDI Control Panel?

Hi Androgena,
I'm using the EQ6-R with the USB-B port on the connector panel. I'm working with astroberry 2.0.3 and the mount works with the eqmod driver without problems. I'm just plugged in the USB cable to mount and RPi, load the eqmod driver and it was ok.

Hope you will fix your problems!

Best regards

Hi Androgena,
I even don't know that there is such upgrade, this is cool :)
What happens if you connect this mount to a Windows PC? Is there a new COM device in Device manager detected?

Hi Jürgen,

Any chance we could see the output of `dmesg` and `lsusb` from your astroberry? I'd be interested in knowing if you have the same serial controller I do.

I have a suspicion that there might have been a hardware change. Knowing what you have would answer that question.

Hi Hades,

Unfortunately, I don't have a windows machine to test with. I'll try on my Mac later tonight.

I was pretty excited to have the USB port, and to get away from the EQMod cables. Thankfully they are still an option if I can't get the USB port working.

Hi Androgena,
here you see the lsusb from my EQ6-R:

As already worte by Seescho it is important to set the Baud rate to 115200, otherwise ist doesn't work.

Once the mount is seen by EKOS I have the following informations in the INDI mount tab "firmware": Firmware 0307, mount code 0x23.

Do you have tryed another USB cable? Hope you get your mount working!

Best regards

I just saw, that you already posted your lsusb... I try to get the detailed lsusb output after work, just copied the one line output after my photo session last night.

My EQ6-R has at least a different product ID.
