I am hoping Kstars can add manual filter wheel or filter drawer option for those who doesn't have EFW.
1. Manual Filter Wheel is used when we have a filter wheel that is not computer controlled, but
still want to have the benefit of the sequencing, file naming, and FITs headers found within EKOS.
2. We may setup the Manual Filter Wheel just like a normal filter wheel in the Filter Setup dialog in EKOS.
3. Whenever a filter change is requested a dialog box will pop up asking us to manually change the filter.
4. This dialog will pause the sequence and any other actions currently taking place until "OK" has been
clicked.
One quick hack is to use the INDI filter wheel simulator. If you increase the timer delay at filter_simulator.cpp:86 to leave time for you to shift to the next filter, the Capture module will indicate it is changing to filter X and wait for that duration (currently it's 500ms, got to be quick).
From there, we can extend the filter wheel simulator to allow manual manipulation, either by making said duration customizable, or by adding a button that validates the change for the client.
That is not exactly the user-friendliness you are asking for on the client side, but that's a beginning
What is certain is that you can't just make a change request and expect it to be implemented quickly, particularly if no one else seems to be requesting the change. Delays in non-lucrative open-source projects are indeed heavily dependent on volunteer free time.
I've got many things in the pipe myself on Ekos, but altering the filter wheel simulator to give a customizable delay would probably be a simple change, if it can fit the need.
This is so great if you can take over on this request. I believe using the filter wheel simulator will works as well.
What we need for start are:
1. duration customizable.
2. a dialog box will pop up asking us to manually change the filter.
Thanks again for helping up.
Regards,
Tom
