It would be great if we could have a polar scope helper functionality in Ekos.

Nothing fancy, just using the location and time, have a display of where Polaris (or Crux for southern hemisphere?) should be on your polar scope.

How does this sound?

Can't hurt, but a pretty quick and dirty shortcut is to set the grid to equatorial, zoom in on the pole, note where Polaris is in relation to true north. Then, remembering the polar scope inverts, you want to place the Polaris circle on your scope 180 degrees offset.

So Polaris is at 3 o'clock from true north in kstars, place the circle at 9 o'clock on your polar scope.

Then use EKOS to fine-tune Polar alignment. ;)

There is a tool called Polar Finder that offers exactly what you need, and they have a Linux version too!
