Hello! I am not expert in Linux. I think if you write a detail procedure of writing serial driver for the kernel (for newbie in linux/raspberry pi) will be helpful for future experimenters. I am now operating it with Cartes du Ciel in windows and it is running nice! I don't want to do experiment with this anymore!

Thank you for your help.

I open the USBlyzer software. Connected the telescope usb cable. Then it appears into the usb list of the software. I selected ETX LS Telescope at COM4 and select start capturing. Then the software started logging. I opened Cartes de ciel planetarium software, opened the control panel and press connect button to connect the telescope with the software. Then I give the telescope a command to slew to Alpha Aris star. Then stopped capturing and export the log.

Hi Jochym!
Many thanks for your help. I really am interested to control this telescope under linux Kstars. I am primarily a Windows user, but have 3-4 months experience of using linux ubuntu. I have Raspberry pi3 loaded ubuntu mate 16.04LTS, installed kstars-bleeding. I have connected the telescope in the windows8.1 machine and ran Cartes de ciel planetarium software and used usb analyzer to monitor the telescope port. Please download the USBlyzer software capture log from this google drive link:

drive.google.com/file/d/0ByntE7ZqdSzoTTZ...WDg/view?usp=sharing

It's a html exported file. download and open it with browser.

Thanks.

Hi Jochym!

I have tested installing windows driver, oracle virtual box and ekos vm. Then piping the COM4 (My windows detects LS8 on COM4) to the virtual box. But failed. However here is the link for the windows driver:

Download Page: www.meade.com/support/auto.html
File Link: www.meade.com/support/auto/Au2ver6.0.0.exe

Thanks!

Hi! Thank you for you help. This is not possible to open the telescope to see the chip. I have sent an email to Meade corp. for the details of the cheap. I don't know whether they will tell me or not. In the mean time I have installed Ekos VM on Windows machine and ran it. In the same way Kubuntu detect ST-Ericssion, but not as USB. So I don't know what to do next. May be I should leave it here before someone make a linux driver for this telescope.

Thank you guys for all the help.

### I have connected the telescope in Windows8.1. Installed Autostar driver. The telescope is connected in COM3 port. I checked the VID and PID didn't change. That means no dual personality. Please check the attached screenshots.

Hi! Thank you guys for helping me.

The commands didn't show any positive result. What I did:

1. Pluged in the usb cable. As root I put: blacklist acm in /etc/modprobe.d/acm_driver.conf and /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf

2. In terminal: modprobe pl2303 (It shows no error message)

3. I found new_id file in the directory: /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/pl2303/new_id

4. In terminal: echo 04cc 0000 > /sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/pl2303/new_id

5. I checked the VID and PID is written in the new_id file. (Things gone right!)

6. In terminal:

Hi! I don't have any serial over bluetooth device. I have been using Rpi3. The telescope connects through printer usb connector cable. I have attached a picture of it. This time I have connected a TPlink wifi adapter and the Meade LS8 in USB port. See the results:

Hi!
I followed the FAQ but failed to work it out. Dialout user command does work. but ls -l /dev/ttyUSB0 shows: cannot access /dev/ttyUSB0: No such file or directory.
Note that LS8 connects with pc via Print port to USB cable.
Any further suggestion?

Hi! Finally I bought the telescope and today I tried it to run by Kstars/indi, but failed. Please see the attached pictures.
I tried LX200 GPS library.
lsusb output: ST-Ericsson is most probably the telescope. because when I plug out the telescope usb it disappears.

Please would anyone explain me why indi is showing such errors? What can I do now to control the telescope using kstars?

Thanks in advance!

Ok thanks Knro for the reply. I am going to buy this telescope as soon as possible. The advantage of single switch alignment attracted me most. If all the options can be controlled by the indi it will be superb for me. Do you know anyone used this scope with Indi or do you guess any issue may raise up?

Regards
