I see... This is confusing since:
1) You can select the SX AO as an adaptive optics device within the Ekos internal INDI control panel
2) You can select the SX AO as a 'via' device when using the internal guider in Ekos
3) It says this on the Ekos front page: Built-in native Auto Guiding with support for automatic dithering between exposures and support for Adaptive Optics devices in addition to traditional guiders.

But, I understand and do appreciate all that Kstars/Ekos has to offer. I will start to experiment with PDH2.

Thank you. Ekos does, in fact, internally support this device.

Can anyone please point me to some documentation? I recall that there is one person in particular who developed this support - if only I remembered who!

Thanks

Hello - Can anyone please point me to a tutorial or written manual or similar on the use of the SX AO device in Ekos? I've looked but can't find anything specific to the device.

Thanks very much!

Sure - here you go. You can see the option in question near the bottom of the image, but I wanted to include the words 'Sky Chart' because the preference is in the 'Sky Chart' section of the 'Advanced' preferences tab (for some reason).

While I have you - I'm looking for a tutorial or documentation talking about the use of the SX Adaptive Optics device. I've searched but can not find anything specific to its use in Ekos.

Thanks

I believe I have figured out the issue. In the TSX preferences (Advanced tab) there is the options 'TCP responses close socket'. For some reason, it was set to 'true'. This seemed undesirable so I set it to false and just like that everything seems to be behaving normally. I am now able to connect easily to TSX from the Ekos internal INDI server.

I hope this info helps others

Thank you kindly for your assistance.

Yes, both applications are running on a Mac running 10.13.x. When I look at TSX, the TCP server records an incoming connection request (in the sense that the connection 'counter' on the server pop up window goes up each time I try to connect), but the connection fails.

I tried it with some older copies of TSX, but the same thing happens - "error reading from TheSky6 TCP server" I'm going to reach out to SB and see if they can help with understand what is happening on the TSX end. Is there anything else you can think of? The instructions suggest it should just work. Do I need to be running 10.15.x?

Thanks a bunch

Hello. I am attempting to connect Ekos to TSX to run my Paramount MyT. Everything is newly downloaded and installed today - Kstars and TSX. I followed the instructions here www.indilib.org/devices/telescopes/bisque-paramount.html to set up the connection. TSX is open and connected to the mount and the TCP server is on. In the Ekos INDI control panel, address 127.0.0.1 and port 304 are set and saved. However, when I press connect, it says "ERROR reading from TheSky6 TCP server"

Why does it say 'TheSky6'? Is that why it is not connecting? I'd appreciate any and all input for what to do from here.

Thanks!

Thank you.

My apologies, but where/how do I run that statement?

Previously I reported this issue, and was told that the PID for this camera was added as of version 3.1 (Mac). I am using 3.2.3 and still can not seem to get the program to connect to the camera. I can run TSX at the same or just before or after and connect to the camera just fine.

Can someone please confirm if the PID for this camera (SX-46) is present and that the program should be able to connect via USB?

Thank you
Mike

It seems like maybe this is more of a 3.0.1 type change, but okay - thanks very much for the attention to this issue.

A week? A month? More or less?

Please let me know if/when I can t ry using the SX-46 with Ekos.

Thanks very much

James

Thank you!, but the issue is not camera dependent. If I set up a new Equipment Profile in Ekos, and choose to use the internal INDI server, and choose 'SX CCD' as my camera - then, when I open the INDI server control panel (where I can connect/disconnect to devices) there is no tab for SX CCD. I have tabs for all my other equipment (Paramount, SX AO, Gemini) - but no way to connect to my camera or Lodestar guider. The SX CCD INDI 'driver' (not sure of the right term) seems just plain broken.

I will get the info for the camera (SX-46) as you requested, but surely the Lodestar is already a known camera and I can not connect to that either.

Thanks for your help - I really want this to work (Using Ekos to allow me to use both the SX AO and TSX while remaining on the Mac).
