I have met the exact same issue when I used Astroberry with an Olympus OM-D E-M1 at first. After some test, I found after gphoto taking the FIRST image, the camera's mode changed to M and the exporsure was set to 1 sec automatically. however, the good news is that when I change the camera back to bulb mode by hand, all gphoto subsequent captures will be fine.
