Still having issues with Meridian Flip. Left the scope running to capture 80 subs last night. When I got up this morning it had only captured 56. Looked outside to see the camera smashed into the mount and and a "click" "click" "click" sound coming from the mount. I am hoping it's ok I have not tested it yet.

I was shooting M63. While I was still up the HA reading as something like -00h 50m 10s. I checked the "Flip if HA" if more than 0.20 and selected the hour button. I thought I was all set to get some sleep and get my 80 subs but I guess not! Any ideas ANYONE what went wrong?

It seems like a pretty straightforward routine to take flats with Ekos. But being new to this there is always a niggling feeling that I might be doing it wrong or could be doing it better. Here is how I am taking my flats:

1. White t-shirt flat and stretched over end of OTA.
2. In Ekos I select "flat" and in customize I leave it at "manual". I leave ISO the same but on my 6D select AV (rather than BULB setting).
3. I start capturing while using my iPad on full brightness holding it pressed up against the white t-shirt.

My flats look good I think. On the histogram they are about half way exposed.

Am I doing the right thing for good flats?

Here are 2 screen shots.

I am a little confused if the dither is working or not. It says "warning dithering failed". Then it says "post dither waiting for 15 secs". The next message says "dithering successful". So, did it fail or was it successful?? Please help if you know what the problem might be.

In the simplest explanation possible, please help me to understand when I need to do a meridian flip and how to set it in Ekos so it happens when it's needed. I watched the module video but am still confused. Thank you.

This is a screen shot of last nights imaging. The graph looks very different than the first one. Only significant thing that I changed was to switch from primary scope to guide scope. My PA was probably better too. The RMS was still up around 1.00. Sometimes it would drop to .75 other times it went as high as 1.30. I could manage 5 min subs with stars that were still round so I can't complain about that.

I agree on getting off track. Tonight is clear out. I'll try the things suggested so far and report back.

One thing that is very frustrating for me when doing the PA is that the image doesn't update to see that star movement till every other capture. For example, I will guess the adjustment, it will take the image but the star stays in the same position until the NEXT image. Does this happen to you? It really slows the whole process down.

Wouter. I updated my profile to show equipment.

To polar align I used the PA module in Ekos. Is this a good way to get accurate PA? It was a little windy last night maybe that was a factor too?

Well I didn't ask you what it was, only where I would find it. Remember I am a total newbie at this but thanks for your help so far.
