Followers of this topic may find this interesting - from CISA, the government cybersecurity agency: us-cert.cisa.gov/ncas/current-activity/2...on-gpsd-rollover-bug.  The fix rolled out this week -- may want to be sure that you are running the latest version of GPSD (3.23), or newer.

That worked and I cannot thank you enough...I know that it was a real newbie question!!! The GPS is reading correct lattitude for my location: 32 48 58, but the longitude is a number that doesn't exist 242 44 09, and I'm guessing that this is to avoid negative numbers (correct longitude for my location is 117 15 51. It even got the elevation correctly (74 m). Am I correct about the longitude reading? It did get the time correctly as well. Thank you again, and, again, Happy Holidays.

I am having the same issue with a Uputronics Raspberry Pi GPS/RTC Expansion Board and a RPi 4B running latest Astroberry (updated today). GPSD works perfectly on the RPi (as shown on gpsmon) with current time and position, but on Ekos, GPSD, while connecting, shows the message "gps fix in progress" but never gives the fix. The serial connection is ttyS0. I've spent the last 3 days reading everything I can on this issue, and this is the closest that I've come to what may be the problem, but, whenever I try to modify the config file at /etc/default/gpsd, I'm denied permission, including when I use "sudo." Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and Happy Holidays.

I have exactly the same issue and would like to modify the /etc/default/gpsd file, but I keep getting the error message "permission denied," and no offer to enter a password. How do I get around this. Thanks, and Happy Holidays.

Hi. I'm having same issue, and it's just in the last 24 hours. I, too, don't remember doing an update, but one may have occurred without my knowing. I read the manual and some of the drivers, including ASCOM, have a software means for reversing the motor, and, I think that would be a fix. I'll be watching carefully for other possible fixes (I run EKOS on an RPi and my other computer is a MAC, so ASCOM is not an easy option for me). Thanks for starting this thread and looking forward to a fix.
