Got it connected! Its not quite the steps in your post, as it gave me a yellow 'light' and then no connection. I tried scan ports and I think that did it but when fiddling with the settings I'm not exactly sure. Attached is a screen-shot of the settings and messages when it worked. thanks for your work. HTH some others per your discussions with Rob. Clear skies, and maybe a big aurora tonite! -although I have lots of clouds.

Thanks Rob, If i get it right you're saying I need a Mac compatible driver for Serial-USB converter for the N-step motor. The Rigel has a serial connection input off the stepper motor and USB 'module' output to the Mac. I know the port and cables all work fine, since everything else in kstars runs fine from that USB port and a hub. The Rigel USB Nstep converter driver is Windows & ASCOM only, which of course is not Mac compatible and why INDI should work instead if the program is in Kstars. I can try it tomorrow with a Mac-compatible Keyspan serial-USB converter which I've used for other astro-devices for years. I'll update with what I find. Ron
Thanks for replying Rob and looking into this. I have done the same thing and tried with the Simulator and get a "no connection" error. both in Kstars versions Mac 3.5.5 and 3.5.3 that I have. As mentioned in previous post, I also dug into the Mac-INDI directory and find a 'header' (not sure of the term?) but apparently no script to do anything. This 'driver' also is not under the Rigel heading in the directory list. I'm no linux guru, and have only fumbled around in Unix a long time ago. But appears to me the driver script in GitHub never got to the Mac INDI directory. But I have no idea if that script works or needs work. I asked previously if I copied the driver script from the GitHub hub link, if that would work? I looked at some other drivers in the directory and they seem to have long scripts. But some others have none similar to the nstep. I know others have reported the same problem with the Baader Steel track focuser. So more drivers may be missing than just the Rigel systems driver or maybe there is no Mac compatible driver yet? Hopefully you can sort this out and let us know what can be done. your work is much appreciated. Ron
I've had the same problem and have to make sure the "focus box" is unchecked in the scheduler. Then focus manually before starting any sequence of imaging. Typically my focus doesn't change in a few hours though and am not using a filter wheel (yet).
As there is no reply to my question,, I've been trying to figure it out.. I've found the github INDI driver for the Rigel n-step focus motor and the INDI driver 'header' in Kstars INDI directory and confirms it appears it has no 'code' or script.
Can I copy and past the script in this github page (link below) into a Mac terminal window opened in the INDI directory and will it save and run? Hopefully its as simple as this. Or otherwise, how do you install this driver to Kstars Mac Indi directory? Currently the weather prevents me from just trying out this or other methods and other options.
In the Kstars Mac Profile Editor there a driver for the Rigel systems N-Step focus motor listed I selected. But apparently its not actually in the Mac version, as it (sadly) won't connect to my Rigel Systems motor. Is there a way to add it to Kstars or plans to add it in the near future? I've checked cables and connections.

Using Mac Kstars 3.5.3, on MacBook Pro 10.14.6 When trying to image with my Canon M50 last night and after working fine for plate solving goto, with good images from the M50, when I started the imaging sequence I found the pixel dimensions settings in the Imaging Module and INDI image settings panel were completely changed to a couple hundred pixels, which means the images were completely useless small pixelated 'boxes'. It had worked well in a couple brief imaging sessions the past week or two between clouds and rain. I've not been able to change the dimensions in either the INDI panel or EKOS module to correct these corrupted settings. While it still seems to recognize the M50 camera, the pixel dimensions are useless. There seems to be no way to bring up the device manager to re-set or input again the correct w x h pixels of 6000 x 40000. Hoping I don't have to do another complete deletion and reinstall to be able to correct these dimensions
Thanks Rob, your comment about loading GSC from the Wizard was a good 'clue'. I had looked and thought you meant the Ekos Profile Wizard for the GSC. It has been over a year since installing Kstars 'planetarium' and setting it up, so I had forgotten about the Start Up Wizard there. I downloaded the GSC as well as other catalogs in the wizard to Tycho 2. I tried the mount- Simulator and 'slewed' to M66 (now in south) and plate solving, put up a simulated image (of 10sec) exp) of star field and solved it quickly -already centered. So the Simulator/plate solver now works and I presume with the "internal solver" that is the Stellasolver, is that correct? It will likely be a few days before I can run this on the actual night sky. But I presume/hope all now works.
Rob, thanks for your reply questions, I'll try to answer by no..
1. I was using ASTAP the past year because it worked. and there was no Stellasolver When Stellasolver 'appeared' in 3.5.1 (I think thats the first version?) it didn't seem to work so I found the ASTAP option was still there and still worked. I will use whatever works especially if it doesn't require any 'outside' or additional downloads. loaded the index files presuming maybe they would work with one of the options. I've tried all the options of internal solver, ASTAP, Stellasolver etc., in Options and always got the same error of "not enough stars' and now all sim images have no stars at all. If the Stellasolver will work w/o downloading or additional files, I'll use it!
2. I did not see the GSC in the Wizard but was looking for it. I'll check again, but if I don't need to load a huge file I'd prefer not to, as per everyone else...
3. I appreciate all the work you and others do, but non-answers are often the case here. When a developer answer to a user problem is, "it works for me", thats a non-answer I got for 2 decades from the IT dept. where I worked. I get it that there are many many devils to be stomped out in so many interconnected and many variety of equipment standards and software. I'm not familiar with athe other versions, but the Mac version always seems to be in beta. I posted this same problem in your 3.5.3 beta test request. I've got no clue why plate solving would stop working in 3.5.2 after working for months. And now not working in 3.5.3 either. Whether thats due to something in beta that hasn't been tested or something else only you can answer. Unfortunately being a tester is somewhat at 'odds' with being someone who is just a user and needs astro-imaging software to work on those good nights which are sometimes very few. Its great when its works!
